Loving ELA!

We have had so many activities in our short three weeks together. Here is just a list of some of the things I remember about these few weeks.

July 4th: Everyone arrived in EC with smiles on their faces. It was my first night in Chancellor's too. Everyone wanted to check their email. Hooda learned how easy it was to get locked out of her room!

July 5th: I gave a tour of campus. You all got to walk up the steep hill for the first time. Then we had the ELA picnic and started to get each other. This was also the first trip to Shopko and Ron's.

July 6th: Lots of tests this day! Everyone was pretty tired. EngHwa, KK, and I went to the airport together and had a "secret" tour of Eau Claire.

July 7th: The first official day of classes! Everyone learned what its like to be an American student! Some people were suprised about how much homework we give. (I don't have to give homework, so I get to remain the good guy)

July 8th: We had a GAME NIGHT! Elle was a big winner at "Apples to Apples."

July 9th: We went to the state fair and we lost EngHwa! This was one of my favorite activities. I love the CHEESE CURDS. YUM!

July 10th: You went to Minneapolis. I had vaccation

July 11th: " "

July 12th: Everyone was recovering from the trip to the cities. Some of us came to my house for Apples to Apples and a bonfire! Ziggy the cat was very popular!

July 13th: We TRIED to go to US bank. :) You started your fabolous Blogs and we played sand volleyball. It was going well until some "experienced" players showed up and wanted to play.

July 14th: This day the students went to the "Fish Farm." I only heard about this in stories. I heard KK caught 11 fish and EngHwa made a S'more with fish.. ? We also made butter in Jasmine's class.

July 15th: This was a great day because we were celebrating Lisa and Enghwa's birthdays. :) We went to Mogie's for dinner and then I took Lisa and Enghwa to Brothers so Lisa could get her free mug.

July 16th: I went to see Beyonce in the Twin Cities. w00t w00t!

July17th: Students went to Madison. Kim spent a quiet evening at home.

July 18th: Still in Madison

July 19th: POW WOW! We got to see a Native American celebration and spend some time in Hayward.

July 20th: This was the day of the "service learning" project at the nursing home. We got to meet people up to 100 years old! Chris and I never got a BINGO. :( Then we went by Dell's Mill Pond to take some pictures.

July 21st: We went to the budget theater for $1.50 movie! We saw "Angels and Demons" I think some of us fell asleep. we also had a great time eating at the acoustic cafe.

July 22nd: Nicole and I went to see a poetry reading by some local poets. It was a real taste of America!

July 23rd: What a great night! We had a pot-luck dinner and then went to phoenix park for some music. It was a great summer night and everyone was in good spirits. Nights like that are what makes me love living here so much.

I will be really sad when this program is over. Working with the ELA program is the most fun I have ever had at a job and the people I work with are wonderful. I think I would do this job even if they didn't pay me. The thing I love the most is being able to share what I love about America and my city. When people ask me questions about my home it makes me take a closer look at the things around me. Watching a new friend enjoy the sunset at Phoenix Park makes me enjoy it 10 times more. I think I have a laugh attack on a daily basis. Let's make this next week the best ever!
